I was asked to present a lecture to the Pathway Post Grad. student Teachers on the 14th August 2007 on Inquiry Learning. I found the process both exciting and nerve racking. Below is the power point presentation of that lecture. I must acknowledge that some of the resources came from Michael Pohl who is one of the gurus of this type of teaching. If you have the opportunity to hear him speak I strongly suggest that you do.

It went rather well, wasn’t as scary as I thought would be. Those in attendence seemed engaged and asked insightful questions. Really enjoyed the experience and the opportunity to reflect on my own practice.

I was one of the students present at the lecture. Thankyou for sharing your passion and implementation of inquiry learning with us. You kept it real, simple and devoid of educational jargon which was easy to associate with.
Thanks for sharing your Power Point and resources.
Have a great day

Thanks Joe,
When I was preparing for the lecture I kept in mind some of the mind numbing ones I had to sit through 20 years ago at teachers college. I also get put off by the plethora of jargon/anacronisms that plague education. Teaching in essence is a simple job. ENGAGE, MOTIVATE, FACILITATE, EXTEND hey maybe I could get on the lecture circuit promoting the latest anacronism E.M.F.E? Just joking.
I enjoyed Mark’s lecture and found it quite helpful as it clarified the inquiry process for me.
Re Mark’s lecture: I appreciated an insight into his classroom – another option; another perspective and obviously a class that reflects his passions and interests.
I thought Marks lecture was interesting and fun. I liked his speaking style.
I appreciated his obvious passion for ICT and his portrayal of all the ways it can be used, especially in inquiry learning. I thought Mark answered questions clearly too. He didn’t scare me off inquiry learning at all!
An excellent teacher I would think, and obviously passionate about inquiry. He was also very REAL, which is refreshing. Perfection can be daunting. And it’s great to see how far the school have come in 6 months.
I enjoyed Mark’s presentation and his irreverent style. I’d be interested to hear what his students say about him. The blog pages were an excellent idea and great way to do some formative assessment without it being too obvious to the kids that they are being assessed.
Thanks for posting the above series of comments from your students that attended the lecture. I am glad that they found it worthwhile.
Reading your feedback Mark you must be very proud as we are with you well done
